OK - the first storm of the season is upon us - 20-30 cm forecast tonight
for SE Sask, and Western Manitoba (and probably northern N. Dakota and
Minnesota). Who is gonna lay claim to be the first one out for a cruise????

Looks like it's gonna be you Dave, here in NJ it hasn't hit freezing yet,
close but not yet.
Only got my grandson's Indy 400 home here anyway, my sleds in upstate NY and
they have only had a inch "dusting" so far.

The first trails opened in my local area three weeks ago, but haven't
had the first ride for the season yet as my favourite trails are not yet
open.....

Below is a link to a complete snowmobile trail map for my local area
(Finnmark county in Norway), except there has been some changes not yet
updated in the map.
The legend shown on the map is in Norwegian only, but snowmobile trails
are shown as red lines with a blue number (referring to descriptions in
the snowmobile trail registry), and the total length of all trails shown
on the map is approx. 5,800 kilometers (equal to approx. 3,600 miles).
The city I live in is found in the lower right part of the map.

Yeah, Finnmark county is the largest county in Norway, and here are some
more statstics about the county based on latest available data:

Total area: 45,984 sq.km (17,750 sq.miles)
Total population (all ages): 72,856
Total length of public roads: 4,062 km (2,524 miles)
Total length of snowmobile trails: 5,789 km (3,597 miles)
Registered snowmobiles in county: 14,940

As you can see, there are more snowmobile trails than public roads in
the county, and about every fifth person own a snowmobile.....
