After over 20 years of checking in here and participating in the ongoing
online discussion, I officially declare this site as a dead horse. That is
of course unless kewx appears out of the hoppyzone and some of the others
come back and say something....

It's 80F here, according to the weather station at the county airport...
I think the "season" is officially over for us. LOL

There is usually enough snow here to at least think about riding riding
into April, but certainly not this year. The sled came out of my truck
about three weeks ago. This was a poor snow year, damn El Nino. It has
been so bad that some local golf courses may be open for the long
weekend! It has been a few years since we've had a good 60cm May snow
storm. Maybe this will be the year? I won't fog my engine until June,
just in case. LOL

Yeah, it's been dead for a few years but I still check for messages.
My season ended the first week in March, got my last ride in but had to
trailer a couple miles to the trail head.
At least the grandson got 50 miles under his belt.
It was a good but short winter, got 1300 miles of riding in. Snow was early
but not enough to keep the trails perfect in my riding area. (Adirondacks)
Summerizing is in order, stabilizer went in on the last ride.

Eventually the major usenet providers will probably stop carrying

Your right on there David.
I think most of the folks that used to come on here have lost Usenet.
I'm on here through teranews with the one time $4 fee, my ISP dumped Usenet
years ago.

I really prefer to use Outlook Express and download the messages versus

I read Dootalk regularly, I have gotten a lot of Ski Doo info and great
info at that off there.
My roots are back to here when I got my first 'puter in '95. Even back then
the group on here was small as most PC owners have not a clue about Usenet
back then never mind today.

I got here early in '98 when I got my first internet account and started
exploring the world wide web. LOL
I agree, you do what you have to do when you have a problem or need
information... but I have absolutely no interest in any "brand-specific"
sites. The fact that "brand-bashing" was frowned upon here was one of the
great things about the group... even in the hottest flame wars,
brand-bashing wasn't really tolerated by most of the regulars.
None of the manufacturers have ever done me any favors and it's not a
"privilege" to be one of their customers; regardless of what they think...
so I don't feel any loyalty to any of them, regardless of what I happen to
own at the time. (I've owned Cat, Ski-Doo, Polaris, and a Mercury).
What I liked best about this group was that it was unmoderated and
nobody owned it. I don't have much use for moderated sites or sites owned
by some egomaniac that treats everybody like a 3rd grader.
The other thing that was great about this site is that it was "the"
place... now you can find yourself stuck in the same circular conversation
on 10 different sites.
Hell, I suppose the handful of us that are left can keep the group alive
for a few more seasons. >:-)

I had some problems with my newest Doo. On Dootalk I spoke my mind, and had
2 others say they had the same problem.
Nothing was censored there and for a brand specific site I have had ZERO
issues with the truth. It has been a wealth of info.
Certain sites are specific and moderated by Nazi's , I don't bother with
them either. They can blow their own horns right up there butt all the want
IMO. Truth prevails.
I've had a lot of sleds over the years myself so I'm not bleeding one color
brand either. And everyone of them has broken something, I went Doo when the
Rev came out for the suspension. I rode Poo for decades before that with AC
mixed in.
BTW my dealer and Doo stepped up to the plate and fully took care of me
with a fresh motor and a 2 yr bumper to bumper extended warranty no charge.
My dealer didn't have my sled done in time for my second vacation week of
sledding, he pulled an identical used sled off the showroom floor, gave me a
dealer tag an said have fun and bring it back when your done.
600 miles later no questions asked when I dropped it off.
In fact I brought it in mid week and he put new carbides on it as one was
worn off.
Took too long for my sled to get done IMO on the corporate side but the
dealer did me right
Ditto on the same conversation on multi sites. I limit myself to only 2
other sites on sleds beside here which is Dootalk and Rob's site.
Rob's site is a casual scan as I like the tech side of Dootalk that pertains
to my current stable of sleds.
I too like Outlook for Usenet, I guess it's a throwback to my computer
youth......

Yup, I use Outlook Express and my ISP - Telus, here in BC still offers

Some of the hardcore sledders are still out there - I see their mud covered
trucks and sleds coming back from the hills in the evening. Not much snow
left, but riding is still good up high. Just have to get there.....

I went to teranews.com and for a $3.95 one time set up fee for access I've
got my outlook express configured to automatically download the group just
like in the old days when my ISP offered newsgroups.
There are other Usenet suppliers out there now with free access, I just went
to teranews a few years ago as it was all I could find at the time.
Yeah some times it's slow or locks up but wadda ya want for a $4 one shot
and there is not enough Usenet left for me to worry about exceeding my daily
free limit.............

My provider (Centurytel) is still carrying it as well. Haven't been on here
much as
I haven't done much riding, modifying, etc. like I did 9 or 10 years ago.
Switched over
to riding a Harley until that got old, so now am back to my roots - muscle

Anyone ever know what happened to Kelly? Last I knew she got married and
was in
Stevens Point, WI. She was a riot back when this switched from an alt.
group to a rec. group.
Damn, we were proud of that. Even had mention of it in Snow Goer, although
not a real
positive mention if I remember right. People are mowing lawns here in
Central Wisconsin guys.
I remember when we were still sledding now.

I still read the group, as Earthlink still provides newsgroups as
well. I can go as far back to Brenda and Tom that worked for
IBM up in Minneapolis, then bought what is now known as
"Tipplers Tavern" in Canover, Wisconsin. As far as I know,
they are still there. I haven't beent to Eagle River in the last
5 years or so, spend more of my time around Mercer, but this
was the place, whether it was alt.snomo, or the current
rec.sport.snomo, there was always someone that could provide

I myself haven't been sledding much, or at all, the last couple
